1) How much does chemotherapy cost?

Chemotherapy cost per cycle ranges from Rs. 15,000/- to Rs.50,000/-. The main factor that determines this cost is the type of drugs used. Depending on your case, the oncologist will prescribe specific chemotherapy drugs that are proven to work on your type of cancer. If the drugs are patented, prices are usually high.

2) Why does cost of chemotherapy vary?

Not all chemotherapy is the same. Chemotherapy can be given to treat cancer OR to manage symptoms of cancer such as pain. The type of chemo used for both are different. Depending on the patients’ type and stage of cancer, the type of chemotherapy medicine, the dosage and the frequency will be different.
